About the course
This self-paced professional learning course invites educators to deepen their understanding of Indigenous pedagogies and meaningfully shift everyday classroom practice. Grounded in Inuit, Métis, and First Nations knowledge systems from across what is now known as Canada, the course supports ethical and relational approaches to teaching that are land-connected and responsive to the lived experiences of Indigenous learners (and all learners). Across three modules, participants will explore key pedagogical shifts in Indigenous education and consider how these can be meaningfully applied across subject areas, including literacy, mathematics, science, the arts, physical education, and early childhood education. Real classroom examples and reflective prompts support educators in translating ideas into practice in ways that are authentic, practical, and adaptable to their own contexts. Learners can expect to spend approximately 2–2.5 hours engaging with the online modules, along with an additional 2–3 hours completing the accompanying workbook. The reflective activities are designed to be flexible, allowing participants to take the time they need to meaningfully integrate this learning into their everyday teaching practice.

This course brings together some of the most impactful lessons, reflections, and provocations I have shared with educators from diverse backgrounds and learning journeys across Canada. Whether you are just beginning your learning or looking to deepen your practice, I invite you to engage with this course with curiosity and an openness to transformation. Together, we will explore how Indigenous perspectives can help us create more relational approaches to education.
